Madison Auto Care's seven NAPA service centers can help you decide if it's time for a new set of tires.
With the weather getting warmer by the day, you know it’s getting time to take those winter tires off your car and put them in storage. You’re not sure you remember, however, the condition your all-weather, or summer, tires were in before you switched to winter tires. At this moment, you’re not sure whether you’re better off simply switching summer tires for winter tires or whether you’d be better off buying a whole new set.
Consumer Reports offers this tip:”To gauge tread depth, all you need is a quarter. Put George Washington’s head into one of the big grooves. If the top of his head is flush with the tread, you have about 4⁄32 inch of tread left, meaning you have some grip remaining for rainy or snowy conditions. That’s the time when you should start shopping for new tires. If you can see space above Washington’s head, you may need to replace your tires immediately.”
If your tires are still basically okay but on the edge of being too worn, you might want to go ahead and replace them now rather than later. The tire specialists at any of Madison Auto Care's seven NAPA service centers can help you decide what's best for you and your car - Clausen Auto, Handel Auto, Genin’s Auto, Capitol Tire, Odana Tire, Hansen’s Auto, or Aeschbach Auto.
