When your Madison brakes need repair or replacement, it’s time to call the Madison brake specialists at one of Madison Auto Care’s seven NAPA service centers.
You may not think about your car brakes very often – at least not until they fail you when you’re heading to Shine on Madison or someplace else – but they’re an important part of your automobile. Even though they’re important, many drivers don’t know when they need service or replacement.
According to J.D. Power, there are two ways: look and listen.
“First, check for wear by looking at your brake pads through the spaces between the wheel's spokes,” Power says. “The outside pad will be pressed against a metal rotor. Generally, there should be at least 1/4 inch of pad. If you see less than 1/4 inch of pad, you may want to have your brake pads inspected or replaced.”
Power adds, “Have you ever heard a high-pitched screeching sound when you applied your brakes? That's a small metal shim, called an indicator, which is giving you an audible warning that you need to replace your brake pads. You should be aware of this sound (which is loud enough to be heard while the windows are up, but not necessarily loud enough to be heard over the radio or air conditioner). If you hear it regularly, quickly make an appointment with your mechanic.”
Take Power’s advice and if you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right, call a Madison brake expert like the certified Madison brake technicians at any one of Madison Auto Care’s seven conveniently located NAPA service centers: Clausen Auto, Handel Auto, Genin’s Auto, Capitol Tire, Odana Tire, Hansen’s Auto, or Aeschbach Auto.
