You took the kids to hunt for Easter eggs this morning. And while they had a good time and you're glad they enjoyed it, you have to admit you kept your eye on your gas gauge. At the cost of gas recently, you really hate to turn on your car and drive anywhere. You, like other drivers, are trying to figure out ways to save on gas.

Certainly, one way to use less gas is to drive less. But that's really not possible. You need to drive to work and you need to take the kids places and you need to run errands and....well, you get the idea.

Huffpost.com suggests there are other ways to make that fill up last longer. Among them: watch your speed, avoid excessive idling, stay out of heavy traffic if possible, watch how you accelerate and how you slow down, and stop buying premium gas.

Huffpost.com also has these suggestions: "Keep up with tire inflation and other maintenance. ... Keeping your car in shape with properly inflated tires and routine inspections is especially important to avoid higher costs later on."

And, huffpost.com points out that, as the weather turns warm, "it’s worth paying attention to your A/C usage to maximize fuel efficiency. 'Cars typically are more fuel efficient when the air conditioner is set to re-circulate interior air,' the Wall Street Journal noted. 'This is because keeping the same air cool takes less energy than continuously cooling hot air from outside. Of course, turning off the air conditioner saves even more fuel.' So if you’re driving in warmer weather and using the A/C, consider pressing that air-recirculation button."
