If you’ve decided it’s time to get out of town for awhile, make sure your car is ready to go. The auto care pros at one of Madison Auto Care’s seven NAPA service centers can help.
It’s been a difficult year so far. Perhaps one of the hardest issues to deal with was the lockdown, which made it hard to socialize and even harder to get out of town to get a break from everything. Now, as things are opening up, many people are planning trips. Some of those are merely day trips – a chance to be out on the road and let the miles put your concerns behind you for awhile. Others are planning longer trips, especially for the upcoming holidays.
Of course, things are not completely back to normal yet. So it makes sense to plan ahead and make sure your destination is open and what, if any restrictions, are in effect. It’s also wise to have your car checked – especially if you’ve neglected its care the past few months – to make sure it’s also ready for the trip.
Tripsavvy.com says drivers should check at least eight auto systems every six months, or, if not that often, before you leave town: First, check your oil and, if it’s time for a change, get it done. Also, check your tires, or have them checked for proper pressure and the amount of wear. Pay attention to your brakes and car battery. Don’t forget such things as your lights, windshield wipers and wiper fluid. Make sure your cabin air filter doesn’t need changing. And, last but not least, inspect for leaks, smells and odd noises.
Tripsavvy.com “recommends bringing your vehicle in two weeks before your trip—if extensive repairs are necessary, this will not only ensure there’s plenty of time to complete them, but it will also allow you a few extra days afterward to drive around your neighborhood just to make sure everything is working well.”
