I Resolve | Madison Auto Care

Any one of Madison Auto Care’s conveniently located NAPA service centers can make it easy for you to keep that New Year’s resolution to set up and stick with a schedule of regular auto care.

At long last, 2020 is gone and in the history books. And Mother Nature thoughtfully provided a snowstorm so Madison residents could get out of the house and play in the snow. Once back inside nursing a hot chocolate or a hot toddy, many peoples’ thoughts turned to more serious reflections – the annual making of New Year’s resolutions.

Many (most?) people resolve to finally lose weight and get fit. Those are two that seem to fall by the wayside by the time Feb. 1 rolls around. But there is one resolution that you should both make and keep. Better yet, it’s fairly easy to keep because you’ll have help doing it. The resolution is to take better care of your car or truck by setting and sticking to a schedule of regular maintenance.

“By caring for your car properly, you can increase safety, cut down on expenses, boost your car’s performance and even save yourself some time. A number of your vehicle’s features – from the engine to the tires – need a little TLC from time to time. If they don’t get it, your vehicle – and wallet – could suffer as a result,” according to AAA.

AAA adds, “One of the most important benefits of good car maintenance is that you’ll give it a longer life. Ideally, maintaining your car won’t require as much repair on its parts. You should regularly check the fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, brakes and battery. If you keep these parts in good shape, then they’ll likely last longer. An added bonus is that a well-maintained car will have a higher selling value, should you decide to trade it in.”

What should be checked? Tires. It’s a matter of safety to make sure your tires are properly inflated, have adequate tread and don’t have cracks or other defects. Regular oil changes make sure your engine is well lubricated and not using too much oil. Other items that should be checked are windshield wipers, filters, axle, suspension, brakes, clutch, steering and transmission. If you’re unsure what to check or when to check it, take a look at your owner’s manual.

Or, make it truly easy on yourself by calling one of Madison Auto Care’s NAPA service centers:  Clausen Auto, Handel Auto, Genin’s Auto, Capitol Tire, Odana Tire, Hansen’s Auto, or Aeschbach Auto.
