Madison has a lot planned this weekend to celebrate our freedom. But, after a year of lock downs and other restrictions, millions of people are planning a getaway whether it’s by plane, train, or roadway.
“More than 47.7 million Americans will take to the nation’s roadways and skies this Independence Day (July 1–5), as travel volumes are expected to nearly fully recover to pre-pandemic levels,” according to AAA. “In fact, this will be the second-highest Independence Day travel volume on record, trailing only 2019.”
AAA notes that the majority of travelers will be getting in their cars and hitting the road. You know what that means – heavy traffic. It also means that lots of people will be having breakdowns, whether it’s flat tires, failed batteries, or something worse.
That’s one of the reasons AAA is urging drivers to make sure their car is ready for the trip: “AAA expects to rescue more than 460,000 Americans at the roadside this Independence Day weekend.”
